FAQ

What Is a Watermark?

A watermark is text or a logo added to a photo or image.
It is commonly used to show ownership, display a brand name, or discourage unauthorized reposting and copying.

Can a Watermark Protect Copyright?

A watermark itself does not create copyright.
Copyright is automatically created when an original work is made.
A watermark is simply an additional way to show who owns the work.

How Should I Write a Copyright Watermark?

A common method is to include a copyright symbol (©) and the creator’s name.
Example: © 2026 Bawapps
For social media posts, many people also use their social media ID.
Example: © @bawapps
Even without these labels, copyright already exists automatically when the work is created.
However, adding a copyright notice may help show that someone intentionally removed the notice before reposting or copying the work.

Can Watermarks Be Removed Easily?

Sometimes.
Image editing software and AI tools may be able to remove watermarks.
To make removal more difficult, you can place multiple watermarks on the image or use styles that are harder for AI to recognize, such as dotted text or rainbow-colored text.
These advanced features are available in the WaterStamp mobile app.

Are My Images Uploaded to a Server?

No.
All image processing is done inside your browser.
Your images are not uploaded or sent to any server.

Where Are Images Saved?

Images are usually saved in your Downloads folder as watermarked-1.jpeg, watermarked-2.jpeg, etc. The number increases automatically.
